George W. Bush: Obama Has ‘Tough Choice To Make’ On Syria [VIDEO]

Former President George W. Bush said that he is “not a fan” of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, but declined to weigh in on potential military action against Syria, during a Friday morning interview with Fox News.

Speaking with Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade, Bush said that President Obama has “got a tough choice to make, and if he decides to use our military, he’ll have the greatest military ever backing him up.”

The 43rd president added that during his eight years in office, he was “not a fan” of al-Assad. “He’s an ally of Iran and he’s made mischief,” Bush said.

Still, Bush demurred when Kilmeade pushed him to compare the current situation with Syria to the buildup to the Iraq War in 2003.

“I know you’re trying to subtly rope me in to the issues of the day,” Bush said. “I refuse to be roped in.”

The interview, which took place at a charity golf event to raise money for the families of military personnel who were wounded or killed in action, also covered President Bush’s recent health scare, and his efforts to support veterans and military families. It can be seen in its entirety here.
